Operations Research

Queuing Theory

The Concept of Queuing Theory is quiet interesting. Single server model is a simple case of Markovian chain Process where customers arrive for a service in a system operating single server. This problem is a classic example where the mechanics approaching a store for spares operated with a single store keeper. The explanation includes decision on whether deploying a store assistant is worthwhile or not?

Operations Management

Game Theory

This play list consists of videos on strategic management, where the competition between two companies is treated as a game between two players. The game is assumed to be conservative in nature which means the loss to one player is exactly the same as the gain to the other player. The game may have a saddle point solution (where the players can choose pure strategies) or it may be a mixed strategy game where the players mix two or more strategies in different proportions. The arithmetic, algebraic and graphical methods are used to solve different types of problems and the solutions provide the insights about how the two players mix their strategies to optimize the situation.

Queuing Theory

Queuing is a phenomenon observed when the capacity of service facility is not sufficient to provide service to a random group of customers arriving into a system to get a typical service. As a result of formation of queue, the customers have to spend time in the queue line which is unproductive time. When we consider globally, a significant percentage of productive time is wasted by all human beings by spending their time in one queue or the other. So, in order to minimize the unproductive time of customers, the parameters of queuing models are estimated in order to arrive at an appropriate level of service.
